What are the 4 types of slewing bearings?

The following is a detailed description of the structural characteristics of four common slewing bearings:

Four-point contact ball slewing bearing

• The rolling elements are single-row steel balls with large diameters, using Gothic arc raceways (the cross-sections of the inner and outer ring raceways are symmetrical arcs).

• here are four contact points between the steel balls and the raceways. Through these four contact points, it can simultaneously bear axial load, radial load and overturning moment, realizing "one bearing with multiple loads".

• The inner or outer ring is usually equipped with gears (internal or external teeth), and some models have no teeth. The overall structure is compact, lightweight, and requires small installation space.

• The sealing ring is made of rubber or polyurethane, embedded between the inner and outer rings to play a role in dust prevention and leakage prevention.

Double-row angular contact ball slewing bearing

• It contains two rows of independent steel balls, each row of steel balls corresponds to an independent raceway. The contact angle of the raceway is generally 45° or 60°, and the contact angles of the two rows of steel balls are in opposite directions.

• Its axial load-bearing capacity is stronger than that of the four-point contact ball type, especially for bidirectional axial loads. The radial load-bearing capacity is moderate, and it can bear a certain overturning moment.

• The inner and outer rings are mostly of integral structure, with good rigidity and high rotation accuracy, suitable for scenarios with high requirements for operational stability.

• Some models are equipped with positioning holes or gear structures, which are convenient for connecting with the equipment frame or rotating components.

Crossed roller slewing bearing

• The rolling elements are cylindrical rollers, and the axes of adjacent rollers are arranged crosswise at 90°. The rollers are separated by spacers to avoid mutual friction.

• The raceway is a plane or arc surface, and the rollers are in line contact with the raceway, with a large contact area. Therefore, the radial and axial rigidity is extremely high, and the anti-deformation ability is strong.

• The inner or outer ring is usually designed as a split type (facilitating the installation of rollers). The overall structure has low height, small volume, small rotation clearance, and the accuracy can reach a high level (such as P5 level).

• It can simultaneously bear radial force, axial force and overturning moment, especially excellent in bearing overturning moment.

Three-row cylindrical roller combined slewing bearing

• It includes three rows of independent cylindrical rollers, corresponding to three raceways: one row of radial rollers bears radial load, and two rows of axial rollers (distributed up and down) bear bidirectional axial load respectively.

• The structure of the inner ring, outer ring and spacer ring is complex, the overall size is large, and the load-bearing capacity (especially radial force and overturning moment) is the strongest among all types of slewing bearings.

• The rollers are in line contact with the raceway, with extremely strong rigidity, suitable for large equipment with low speed and heavy load. It is usually equipped with large modulus gears to transmit power.
